Manchester United winger Anthony Martial has responded to a national newspaper report over the weekend that he is a target for Premier League rivals Arsenal by stating that the “rumours are false” via his official Twitter account.
The Mail on Sunday claimed that the Gunners were lining up a £40m move for the Red Devils if another of their targets – Kylian Mbappe – signs for Real Madrid this summer.
However, there doesn’t look to be any truth to the report judging by the blunt response from Martial, who scored eight goals and provided a further eight assists in 42 appearances in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s men last season.
Manchester United supporters were quick to have their say on the post via social media, and many were delighted that Martial was staying and had come out and denied the rumour, but some want him to get his head sorted ahead of next term so he can make an even bigger impact.
